Body Acne
Body acne could be as pesky as facial acne. And that isn’t surprising, as the only difference between the two is where on the body the acne formed. Cases of body acne are very common, although it does not get much attention. Body acne is the least addressed because it is quite easy to hide under layers of clothing. However, if body acne is left untreated, it could cause major discomfort to the person who has it.
Body acne is caused by several factors, and perspiration is at the top of the list. Too much perspiration clinging to the skin irritates the open pores of the body. Acne is in fact, the disease caused by the inflammation of the body pores. There are different types of acne. Blackheads, white heads, and pimples are all examples of it. Some acne could even contain pus under the swollen skin.
Aside from perspiration, tight clothing may also trigger acne flare-ups. This is due to the fact that the skin can’t breathe well. Tight clothing initiates sweating. Therefore, body acne is very common to people who work out in the gym wearing tight clothes.
There are also studies that show acne is caused by genetics. If the parents of a teenager are prone to developing acne, the chances are high that their child would suffer from the same condition as well. It is then very important for the parents to take extra care of their children as they go through puberty. They should assist them with their hygiene and skin care regimens so that instances of acne flare-ups are prevented.
Aside from genetics, body acne may also be caused by poor nutrition. It has been discovered that people who tend to consume unhealthy and fatty foods are more prone to having skin breakouts than those that have a sufficient supply of vitamins and minerals in their bodies.
But more importantly, acne is caused by the changes in a person’s hormone levels. This is the reason why acne is a little more common in women than men. When a woman produces too much androgen in her body during puberty, the direct result is a pimple breakout. Androgen is responsible in the production of sebum.
To prevent body acne, it is advised to wear clothing with a comfortable fit. And as much as possible, it has to be made of natural fibers. Natural fibers are especially engineered to eliminate moisture to prevent it from penetrating the skin. If you need to work out on the gym, make sure that you use clothes that are made of these fabrics.
Prevention is still better than cure. If you keep your body healthy with the foods that you eat and the things that you do, body acne will be the least of your concerns. And as such, you won’t have to subject yourself to the rather costly surgical methods of treating acnes. If you eat right and observe proper hygiene, you will be less inclined to become afflicted with this uncomfortable condition.
